In The 1970s Sister Sledge

Sister Sledge are the American family group formed in 1971. The fours Sledge sisters came from Pennsylvania who produced some of the greatest dance hits in the 1970s.

Their first UK hit was in 1975 with Mama Never Told Me just getting to No. 20. Move on to 1979 when the group had a No. 6 hit with the floor filler He's The Greatest Dancer co written by Nile Rodgers from the album We Are Family. The album also gave them their next UK hit with the No. 8 hit We Are Family.

Again the song was written by Nile and Bernard Edwards who died in 1996.

We Are Family went Gold in the UK. The title was inspired by how record executives reacted to the family singers.

Also in 1979 Lost In Music kept us dancing and was their very last top twenty hits in the UK.
