The single went on to top the Country charts, where it stayed at the #1 position for five weeks. It reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart in 1971 and hit #1 in both Cash Box and Record World. It was an international top five pop hit in numerous countries. Anderson received a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for the record.
