1973 the contest was hosted in Luxembourg. This was also the year that the contestants did NOT have to sing in their native language. Therefore the songs were now going to be understood by a much bigger audience.

Welcome to my complete top 40 for the 6th June 1970. In this week when I first started work at a 16 year old, we had Mary Hopkins, Who, Cliff, Moodies, Elvis and Gerry Monroe and even The England World Cup Squad 1970 with 'Back Home' in the charts amongst many others. Its quite a diverse chart as well so have fun. I'd bet you've not heard many of them on the radio since 1970 either. 21 August 1976 The long hot summer is at its peak with ladybirds everywhere and water shortages in a lot of places Meanwhile, in the charts, Hot Chocolate, the Bellamy Brothers, Gladys Knight, Cliff Richard, Acker Bilk, Tina Charles, Georghe Zamfir, Tommy Hunt, Barry White, ABBA and Rod Stewart entered the charts this week. Elton John and Kiki Dee were still topping the chart. Wings, Billie Jo Spears, Stylistics and Twiggy were climbing the chart. Plenty of disco with Jesse Green, the Bee Gees, the Fatback Band, KC & the Sunshine Band and Walter Murphy & the Big Apple Band. There is also an Extended Play by Bryan Ferry, and many more classics from this very warm summer.
