In The 1970s Chicory Tip

Formed in Maidstone kent in 1967 Chicory Tip had their first big hit with the Georgio Morodor and Peter Bellotte composition called Son Of My Father. The song was the first single to get to No. 1 using a  Moog Synthesizer and was a gold disc too.

The song was originally published in German as "Nachts scheint die Sonne" (In the Night Shines the Sun), written by Giorgio Moroder with German lyrics by Michael Holm in 1971. The song is notable as the first UK number one single to prominently feature a synthesizer, in this case a Moog synthesizer, programmed by Chris Thomas
The next small hit was Whats Your Name and the big hit was Good Grief Christina in 1973. The vocalist was Peter Hewson with guitarists Richard Foster and Barry Mayger.
