In The 1970s Paul Simon

Paul Simon was born in 1941 and in the 60s formed the super duo Simon And Garfunkel. The pair split up in 1970 and Paul went solo throughout the 1970s.

In 1972 his first single hit in the UK was Mother And Child Reunion from his album Paul Simon. The song was inspired by the death of a dog and a Chinese restaurant menu. Figure that one out. The follow up hit in the same year was Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard. The song is about two boys who have broken the law or have done something wrong.

In 1973 he had one minor hit with Love Me Like A Rock in the UK single hit, followed with  the  with Take Me To The Mardi Gras from his album There Goes Rhymin' Simon which had two nominations for the Grammy Awards in 1974. No hits in 1975 and only one smaller hit in 1975 with 50 Ways To Leave Your Woman.
