In Memory Bernie Nolan

Born as Bernadette Nolan in 1960 she was a part of a hugely sucessful British all girl group called the Nolans. They were all sisters who originated in Dublin and formed the group in 1974 and appeared on Cliff Richards TV show. They also appeaerd with the Two Ronnies and Morecombe and Wise and even Frank Sinatra.

They travelled in South Africa and even supported Engeleberrt Humperdinck.

In 1978 they had a small single hit called Spirit Body and Soul. Howver 1979 saw the group explode internationally with the huge hit I Am In The Mood For Dancing. Bernie was on lead vocals and the single went gold by January 1980. The song was written by Ben Findon, Mike Myers and Bob Puzey.
   

The group had big chart hits in the 1980s and Bernie had a great acting career too. She presented many TV shows and was always on reality TV shows.

She died of breast cancer in July 2013.
