Seventies Music Charts: Top Ten Hits from March 1977

Here are the pop charts of the week ending 4th March 1977 (UK).

1.Chanson D'Amour by Manhattan Transfer

This was a number one in UK but did not chart in the US, the group came from New York, and were named  after a 1925 book called "Manhattan Transfer".

Chanson D'Amour was originally a hit in 1958 and 1966 by various artists, but this is the one version that made it a 70s number 1.

2.Knowing Me, Knowing you by Abba

The Swedish super group started their global conquest in 1974 in Brighton, England when they won the Eurovison Song Contest with "Waterloo". This record was more serious and started to chart the break up of romantic relationships within the group.

3.Sound and Vision by David Bowie
Another hit from the tall white prince called David Bowie, but this record started off as an instrumental only. David then decided to give it some lyrics and it became a great hit.Try NOT to tap your toes to this one.

4.When by Showaddywaddy

Showaddywaddy were formed in UK in 1973, and were a fun group who dressed up and sang 50s style records, they always were there to entertain and get the people to sing a long. This record was hit first time round in 1958 by The Kalin Twins.

5. Going In With My Eyes Open by David Soul
