In Memory 2012 Don Cornelius of Soul Train

Throughout the 1970s Soul Train was a must see TV U.S. pop show mainly featuring great black artists.  It was pure funk and soul, and even David Bowie made an appearance on the show. The show was shown around the world and many territories even made their own versions of the show.

In the UK we would normally see clips of the show within the BBC Top of the Pops shows. It always looked like our American friends were having a real great time in the studio.

The presenter was Don Cornelius who was born in 1936 and died in January 2012 at the age of 75. Don committed suicide and at the time of the article the reason was not know.

From Aretha Franklin to Barry White and everybody in between appeared on the show.  Don stood down from being the host in the 1990s.
"... and you can bet your last money, it's all gonna be a stone gas, honey! I'm Don Cornelius, and as always in parting, we wish you love, peace and soul!"
