""deepest sadness" that it had to report John Walker passed away in his LA home on 7 May 2011.
"He was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, friend, and artiste."
In 1971 John had his solo album out called "This is John Walker", which was co produced by Bill Wyman, but it was never released. John then did backing for a group called The New Walkers.
In 1974 he reformed the Walker Brothers, and the produced an album called "No Regrets" in 1975. The title track became a big UK hit for the group, getting in to the top ten.
The group released two more albums in the 1970s with "Lines" in 1976 from which two singles were released but were not successful.
The last album in the 1970s was "Nite Flights" in 1978, again two singles released, but again not successful.
Gary Walker from the group wrote.
""very sad day for John's family, myself and all of our many fans".
"John was the founder member of the group and lead singer in the early days. He was also a fantastic guitarist which a lot of people didn't realise.
"He was a compassionate song-writer and a gentleman with lots of style.
"The three of us had the most incredible adventure together, all the time not realising that we were part of pop history in the making. His music will live on, and therefore so will John."
