70s Music Artist Watch: Tony Hatch

Born in 1939 in England Mr Tony Hatch was already and composer, writer for the pop charts and for TV and film too. He even during the 1970s had live music shows, the man was indeed very talented.

His pop career was already huge from the 1960s with songs like "Downtown" by Petula Clark and "Dont Stand In The Subway".



During his time as a TV panellist he came across a band called Sweet Sensation, and with his guidance they got to number one with this hit "Sad Sweet Dreamer".
The youngest member of the group died aged 38 in 1995 of a brain haeomarhe, his 19 son died a few months later following a gang fight..

The Black Manchester group songs were written by David Parton, who would have a cover of a Stevie Wonder song in 1977.

The last big hit for Sweet Sensation was this enjoyable track called "Purely By Coincedence".

Aged 56 Leroy Smith on keyboards died in 2009 from Bronchopneumonia.

Tony Hatch and his ex wife Jackie Trent with "Love Sound". Jackie died in 2015.
